People communicate and
transfer knowledge, expectations, and values through the stories they tell.
Stories are how we make meaning of our lives and the world around us. The
stories we tell relate our lived experiences, our shared understandings,
and both our perceived and imagined realities. The stories we tell shape
how those who follow us interpret their own experiences as well.
Montana Stories
honors and celebrates stories that probe, portray, and creatively present
diverse lived experiences, profound shared understandings, and enduring
social values. These stories seek to educate, entertain, and inspire
actions that improve the wellbeing of children, youth, families, and communities.
